2025 NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE BOARD DIRECTORS

Chair
Christy started with BellSouth in 1999 and joined the Pioneers soon after. She has supported the Pioneers as a Council President, Awards Committee Chairperson, Executive Board Secretary, and currently serves as a Telecom Pioneer Board Member and as the Appalachian Chapter Treasurer. For over 20 years, she chaired the annual Angel Tree project for the Greater Nashville Council, her favorite volunteer project. She retired just a year ago and continues to reside in the Nashville, Tennessee, area.

Vice Chair
Sandra’s career started in 1981 at Illinois Bell and 36 years later she retired from what is now AT&T. She volunteered with the Pioneers early on and has been an AT&T Pioneer for over 30 years. Sandra was so excited to join the Pioneers because she admired all the work being done for others. She enjoys dedicating her time to community service with the Pioneers and numerous other outside organizations. She particular enjoys serving children and seniors. Although now she is an AT&T Life Member Pioneer, she has served many different areas with Pioneers from Project Lead on various projects, South Council Treasurer and secretary, Chapter Treasurer, Life Member Communication Liaison, National Executive Board Central Region Representative and Telecom Board Member. Sandra says nothing is more rewarding than seeing a smile on a child’s face who has received a new backpack or a brand-new pair of shoes! Serving is my reward!

Past Chair
Kris Wells began her career with Nevada Bell in 1978. She had various positions in her 45-year career, including Operator, Service Rep, Product Manager and Area Manager – External Affairs. Kris retired in 2023. Kris has been a Pioneer for over 30 years and has held numerous roles in both her chapter and the AT&T Pioneer and Telecom boards. She currently serves as the Silver State Chapter Treasurer. Kris serves on a number of non-profit boards in her community and stays active with visits to hospitals, schools and libraries with her Therapy Dog, Fiona.

Treasurer
Rita started working at Southwestern Bell in 1980 in Wichita, Kansas, initially as a Clerk and currently as a Communications Technician. In 1995, she joined the Pioneers and has served in many roles, including Council and Chapter President, Treasurer, and Vice President. She volunteers because she wants to make a difference.

Secretary
Lynn started her journey in 1980 with Southern Bell as a long-distance operator. Today, her current role is Lead Project/Program Manager at AT&T. Lynn’s commitment to community service began in the late 1980s when she became actively involved with the Pioneers, serving in various capacities from Secretary to President within the local council. Currently, she holds the positions of Member-at-Large for the South Florida Council and Secretary for the Florida Chapter. Lynn’s dedication to volunteering drives her passion for giving back to those in need.

AT&T Pioneers National Coordinator
As a former AT&T Senior Project Manager in Volunteerism, Shirley’s primary responsibility was serving as the AT&T Pioneers National Coordinator and Employee Resource Group (ERG) liaison for the Community Engagement organization. Shirley has been actively involved in Pioneers for about thirty over years and has held various Board positions in the AT&T Pioneers leadership and on the TelecomPioneers Board of Directors including serving as chair of the Operations Committee. Shirley continues to serve as the AT&T Pioneers National Coordinator and is the corporate liaison for AT&T and the Community Engagement Contributions fund. Beyond Shirley’s passion for community service and volunteerism, she is committed to her faith and enjoys pickleball, traveling, and being a foodie. She resides in San Diego, California where she lived her entire career and is surrounded by family and friends.
