Boredom Buster Backpacks
Children and teens battling cancer can spend days, weeks or even months in the hospital. Boredom Buster Backpacks provide entertainment, distraction, and comfort while confined to a hospital room. The NE Council of the Ohio Chapter-AT&T Pioneers filled 36 large drawstring backpacks with: fun/colorful pillowcases, hard candy (combat dry mouth), lip balm (soothe dry lip side effect), fuzzy socks (to keep warm; chemo agents feel cold going into body), krazy straws (make it easier to sip while reclined in chair), and a game/craft/activity book (take mind off of treatment). Backpacks were donated to kids undergoing cancer treatment at two local hospitals.
